The wisdom shared by Aristotle could not be more true. We learn best by doing! The following reflections and artifacts represent the invaluable field experiences that I have participated in over the past year during the Internship Gateway portion of my preparation toward becoming an educational administrator. I have had many opportunities to develop and model the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary in becoming an effective building leader.

Projects Included: Justice Matters - Childhood Trauma Team, Trauma Informed Schools Training, Newsletter/Community Resources, and Parent/Teacher Conferences

Effective educational leaders develop and support intellectually rigorous and coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.

Projects Included: Intervention Team - Mathematics, Intervention Team - Behavior, District Leadership Team - Mapping It Out, Monthly Newsletter/Website -All About Assessments, Kansas State Standards MathematicsTesting Panel, and Parent/Teacher Conferences

Effective educational leaders foster a professional community of teachers and other professional staff to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.

Projects Included: Friday Collaborations - Collegial Relationships, MTSS - School Improvement; Data Analysis, UDL Planning Project, Behavior Team - Creating Red Flags & Replacement Behaviors, and District Mapping

Standard 8. Meaningful Engagement of Families and Communities

Effective educational leaders engage families and the community in meaningful, reciprocal, and mutually beneficial ways to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.

Projects Included: Kindness Rocks, Newsletter/Website - Parent/Teacher Conferences, Site Council, PTA Meetings, Mother/Son Dance Night and Father/Daughter Dance Night, Winter Program/Santa's Arrival, Veteran's Day Parade, Community Halloween Parade, Annual Spelling Bee, and Spring Program/Ice Cream Social.

Effective educational leaders manage school operations and resources to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.

Projects Included: Collaboration/Intervention Schedule, In-service Presentation - Marzano Strategies, Building Behavior Team - Setting Expectations/Procedures, Administator Mentor Meeting: Time Effectiveness, and Staff Climate Survey

Effective educational leaders act as agents of continuous improvement to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.
